When should we start teaching manners to our children?

I often get asked this question. Right from a very young age children are taught to say “Ta” when they accept a toy or some food or drink. This is the start of please and thank you. The younger we start the easier it is going to be for us as parents. We should also use our manners when speaking to our children too. Afterall, the golden rule, is “Do unto others as we would have them do unto you.” If we ask our children to please clean up their room and thank you when they have done it they will be more obliged to use their manners. If we don’t say please and thank you we are being bossy and demanding. Children mirror our behaviour so be careful how you relate to them. If they are not responding the way you would like have a check on your own manners with your children, your partner and people in general. Do you curse the slow driver, the long line at the check out, etc, etc?

High Tea Graduation

We all had a lovely time at our High Tea last Sunday at Gillian’s High Tea Rooms from www.cupcakeandco.com.au Thank you all to my students who came along and displayed lovely manners. It was a great experience for the children to show their parents what they have learnt in our program.
